Dummy shotgun cartridges are the perfect addition to your prop collection, independents films or DIY crafting projects. All our 12 GA dummy rounds are real once fired shotgun shells that have been recovered from the range, but are now inert and contain no powder, primer or shot. They cannot be fired and have been permanently altered.

Manufactured by RIO, these blue shells with silver colored high brass bottoms are perfect for cosplay, vintage decor, or rustic farmhouse projects. They are not designed as training rounds, and are only intended for use as props. They come in a pack of 10 and have free USPS shipping.

What's the difference between a dummy round and a blank, and which one does my production need? A dummy round like this one is completely inert — no primer, no powder, and it can't produce any sound or flash. A blank cartridge, by contrast, is designed to fire and make a sound, with no projectile. Our dummy rounds are safe for film, costumes and cosplay. Blanks should never be treated as a "safe" substitute for close-range prop work; the muzzle blast from a blank can still cause serious injury at typical filming distances.

Why use a genuine once-fired hull instead of a molded replica for on-camera dummy rounds? Camera lenses — especially in close-up and macro shots — pick up details a cast resin or 3D-printed replica can't fake: the factory headstamp, the exact crimp pattern, and the natural brass reflectivity of a real fired shell.
