Are these .38 Special casings silver or solid nickel?

Neither. They are genuine brass .38 Special casings with a nickel-plated exterior. The nickel plating creates the silver-tone appearance, but the casings are not made from sterling silver or solid nickel.

Do these casings arrive drilled or ready to attach to jewelry?

These are full-length casings that have been tumbled clean, but they are not pre-drilled or pre-cut. Depending on your design, you may need to drill, cut, glue or add your preferred jewelry findings. If you want components that require less preparation, browse our pre-drilled casings and bullet-casing slices. We are always happy to drill holes for you.

Are these nickel-plated casings nickel-free or hypoallergenic?

No. The exterior contains nickel and should not be described as nickel-free or hypoallergenic. If you or the person wearing the finished piece has a known nickel sensitivity, avoid prolonged direct skin contact or choose a different material for that project.

These empty shells have been once fired so expect some normal wear/marks from the firing process.
